An Unbalanced Lifestyle:
My mother is stopping by and I have a black eye. What will she think of me. I must hide everything! hide the truth because this man is all I have right now…
Question:
Have you ever felt out of balance, possibly even like you were stuck in a situation with no other options. Did you know God was still with you?
God Desires:
God desires for his children to throw out everything that hinders and could cause sin, so that we can focus our eyes on Jesus. (Hebrews 12:1-3)
What an unbalanced life may look like:
running to a cigarette when feeling frustrated
Needing a glass of wine (“ohhh girl I need a DRINK!”)
Unmarried and exploring sexual desires
Excessively shopping
Quick tempered
Abuse
Just to name a few, but God has a way to prevent us from experiencing an unbalanced lifestyle.
Steps towards a just balance:
Understanding you can’t serve two masters, and choosing the Lords way (Matthew 6;24)
walk in the spirit (Galatians 5;16-17 )
Keeping Jesus as the center of your life (Hebrews 12:2)
As Believers:
We often check the weight of our flesh, but forget to weigh our spirits.
Believer How much do you weigh spiritually?
That can only be determined by the Word of God. When experiencing the world do you respond in a manner that weighs accurately so we find favor in the Lord (proverbs 11:1) or does flesh take over?
When driving on the road and someone almost side swipes you, how do you respond?
when your child is misbehaving in school or even at home, how do you respond?
when interacting in relationships that may cross a boundary for you, how do you respond?
It’s not just our fleshly bodies that hold weight, but our souls too. We no longer have to feel ashamed, or want to close the Bible from the spiritual whopping received while reading, because as believers we move in a Just Balance allowing Gods will to lead our lives.
