Question: when someone is choking instantly we would react to release the item, why are we not doing the same for our soul?
Within Matthew 13 Jesus speaks in parables regarding a farmer planting seeds. There were seeds that fell on rocky places with not much soil there, other seeds were by thorns choking out the plants not allowing them to fully grow, while other seeds fell on good soil producing crop for hundreds more then what was sown.(Matthew 13; 5-8)
We all come across rocky ground, yet how we act when facing those times determines how rooted we are in the Lord.
You may ask what does rocky ground look like? It could appear through a bully attacking your child at school, through your boss giving you a hard time at work, through addiction, or even our peers we once believed as friends.
When rocky times come will you remain in the Lord and not fall to sin or are you a plant without root?
Blessed we are when trust is put in the Lord, like a tree planted by the water does not fear heat, as it will always have leaves that are green, it has no worries in a year of drought and it never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17;7-8)
It’s not enough to just know of the Lord. Just knowing of him is how we easily can fall to sin, yet we must remain rooted in the Lord to be able to Grow.
Ask yourself honestly what individual am I?
the individual that hears the word but does not believe?
the individual that hears the word, immediately gets excited but no action comes after
The individual that hears gains understanding then puts the word into practice daily!
I strive for God to know within my soul is great soil for his word and truth to prevail. I am “good ground”.
3 signs you are of good ground:
faces the past, stands up saying NO, get behind me satan. I’m not doing that!
forgives (even the dead)
Hearing the word with understanding putting it into practice (Matthew 13;23)
If we are constantly striving towards the Lord with Jesus as our anchor it will allow us to remain in him when facing the rocky ground.
Now ask Are you willing to remove any rocky source and become deeply rooted in the Lord?
At this point in my life I am on very rocky ground. I know the LORD is faithful and true to HIS word. I will not allow thorn or rock to uproot me from the word of GOD, for HE is my very present help in my time of need. My seed grows in and is rooted in good soil no matter what comes or may.
