Falling in lust
With men I don’t trust
Disobeying my parents’ request
I confess
I was truly a mess
Telling lies
And gossiping as if I was fly
Completely caught in the glove of Sin
I would never win
Not being able to taste the fruit from within
- Poem based from Romans 1:18-32
What type of juice are you tasting? When you begin to feel the heat from the pressures of life, what choices are you acting on? Are you the type that’s hiding from it, or do you face pressure head on? When I was accepting the fruit of the world my flesh was loud and demanding. I allowed my flesh to be in control, and I did not trust myself because of the juice being extracted. I constantly felt alone in a room full of people. I would use sexual desire to receive love only to find out I never knew what love was. The more I took shots of the world the more I felt beatdown and defeated. Thankfully God shows grace. We are all called to be free, but we are not to indulge the flesh (Galatians 5;13).
When we say no to sin, we can begin the Freedom in Christ (Galatians 5; 22-25).
The pressures of life will arise, but when oppressed it should push out the fruit of the spirit. Two ways that we can taste the juice of life:
1. Walking in the spirit. The Spirit of God is in us all (1 John 4; 12-13). We are protected if we don’t leave the presence of the Lord. We can stay in the spirit through prayer. Prayer is a gateway to living life above what we could ever imagine. Prayer strengthens the spirit and enables the awareness of the Holy Spirit.
2. Obeying the Holy Spirit. That “gut feeling” is the Holy Spirit guiding you day in and out with every situation you may face. Through heeding the voice of the Holy Spirit, we can stay grounded to our roots.
We can’t get the fruit without the root! So ask yourself what are you tasting?
